Male pattern based hair loss (Androgenic alopecia)
Androgenic alopecia is also called male pattern based hair loss or female pattern based hair loss is partial or complete loss of hair specially on the scalp, generally at the front temporal region and vertex of the head. in women it starts from the partition area of the head. in women it more likely occur after the menopause.

- Hormonal imbalance(testosterone, dihydrotestosterone)
- Conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone
- Improper diet
- Medical illness
The typical pattern of male hair loss is because of genetic sensitivity to the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in certain areas of the scalp. Testosterone is converted to its active form, DHT, which induces hair loss and is linked to androgenic receptors in hair follicles, which results in compromised growth phase of the hair cycle. It is believed that DHT shortens the growth stage, or anagen, from a typical period of three to six years to several weeks or months. This causes the hair follicles to shrink gradually, reducing hair production and making hair smoother.
